Metsä Spring has appointed Katariina Kemppainen, D.Sc. (Tech.), as Investment Manager as of 1 January 2021. She has worked in the same position since March 2020 through job rotation from Metsä Fibre, another Metsä Group entity, but is now officially transferred to Metsä Spring. In this position she will develop Metsä Spring’s investment portfolio and coordinate internal development projects.
Dr. Kemppainen has previously worked as a Development Manager at Metsä Fibre and as a Research Scientist at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, having 15 years of experience in bioeconomy-related research and business development.
Metsä Spring is Metsä Group’s innovation company. Metsä Spring invests worldwide in promising young enterprises (startups) and conducts R&D activities also on its own. All ideas within the Metsä Spring portfolio must have a strong link to the Metsä Group business ecosystem. Hence, the goal of Metsä Spring is to strengthen the ecosystem in the long run.
